1. Why do we come to this world? What is the meaning of life?
Questions and CommentsAnswer: Humankind was originally created in the image of God. (Genesis 1:27) Humankind is like God in that we have intelligence, emotion, moral concept, a free will and a spirit that is able to communicate with God..
Humankind is the masterpiece of God's creation. All other things; plants, flowers, animals, birds, fishes, sun, moon, stars, seas, lands, mountains, rivers and lakes were all created for mankind's enjoyment and appreciation.
In Genesis chapter 2:18 God said: "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." God made Eve to be a companion for Adam.
Just as Eve was created to be a suitable companion for Adam, humankind was created to be a suitable companion for God. God revealed this truth to us later in the New Testament.
Humankind lost the meaning of life when our first parents sinned and chose to be independent of God. (Genesis chapter three). God cursed the ground because of man's sin and there were troubles, sickness and death in the world. The descendants of Adam and Eve developed the present man-centered civilization. Sins abound in the world today. That is the reason we find these things in the world: boredom, struggle, sickness and death.
God loved the world, He prepared salvation for mankind. In the fullness of time He sent His Son Jesus Christ to the world to be our Savior. Jesus died for our sins on the cross and was resurrected on the third day. Jesus sent His disciples to go to all nations to tell the good news of God's salvation.
We regain the meaning of life when we receive Jesus Christ as our Savior and be reconciled with God. God will become our Father and we will become His children. We will possess the eternal life from God.
As soon as we come back to God like the prodigal son (Luke chapter 15),we will possess God's love, joy, glory, eternal life and His beautiful kingdom. Our life will be full of glory and satisfaction. The meaning of life is that we may enjoy God's glory forever. (G. Lee)
