8. How can you believe in the Christian faith completely and truly from your heart? (Y.Z.)

Answer: The Christian faith is based on the life and teaching of Jesus Christ. When we know Him and His teaching fully, then we can believe in Him completely and truly from the heart. The life and teaching of Jesus has been faithfully recorded in the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John)

The first step to know the Christian faith is to study one of the books (may be Luke or John) diligently and carefully. Believe in the truthful records of these eyewitnesses. Familiarize yourself with the whole life and all the teaching of Jesus.

The second step is to follow the teaching of Jesus. Begin with the confession of your sins before the holy and righteous God. We all have wrong behavior in the past and impure thought in the heart such as pride, vanity, jealousy, selfishness, covetousness, deceitfulness and hatred) Jesus teaches: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." (Matt. 5:8)

The third step is to believe in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and claim His promises. He promised to give eternal life to whoever believes in Him. (John 3:16) He promised to give you the living water that will quench your inner thirst (John 4:14). He promised to give you peace and rest (Matt. 11:28-30).

If you truly believe in Jesus as your personal Savior, you will experience a new birth which means that God's Spirit will come into your heart to give you a new heart and a new spirit. Immediately you will see God and the things of God. Your inner eyes will be opened and see many wonderful things which you did not see before. And you will understand the Bible in a way you did not know before. You will gain new knowledge of God everyday and you will be able to believe in Jesus Christ truly and completely. (G. Lee)
